Second level domain
The top-level domain has a number of second-level domains (.co.at,.or.at,.gv.at, and.ac.at). However, it is also possible to register directly at the top level. Given the number of English words ending in-in, this presents the possibility for many domain hacks.

Hacked domain hacks
Many Austrian domain names are listed for English words ending in "on". The domain hacks treat "at" as a word in itself (such as arrive.at ) is widespread. To this day, there are very few domain names left available in the primary market domains as a result of domain name speculation. Most of them can be purchased in the secondary market domain. Only some of these domain names are actually used. Some known examples of Austrian domain hijacking are:
- donteat.at, popular Foursquare service
- many.at, link bundles
