In August 2011, Robert Leshner and Geoff Hayes designed a prototype of MelonCard, a service that allows consumers to remove their names and information from a list of companies that sell personal data to marketers and backgrounds-checks and people search sites. "After the founders" hit a dinner in Chicago "and met with investors, Dave McClure, the team secured venture capital investment and moved to California.
