The Association for Information Systems ( AIS ) is an international, nonprofit professional association with a mission declared to serve the community through the advancement of knowledge and the promotion of excellence in the practice and study of information systems. Membership consists primarily of academic educators, researchers, and institutions specializing in information systems development, implementation, and evaluation. The association has members in more than 90 countries, and is headed by a president who is annually selected from one of three world regions - America, Europe and Africa, and Asia-Pacific - in rotation. The government council consists of functionally elected representatives of presidents and other elected officials and councilors in three regions of the world. The Association hosts two annual conferences for IS researchers, educators, and students: The International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), which alternates between three world regions, and the American Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS), located at different locations in North America, Central, and South. The Association publishes academic journals including:
