FernGully 2: The Magical Rescue is the 1998 animated film, a direct sequel to the video for FernGully: The Last Rainforest (1992). Produced by WildBrain and animated by Wang Film Productions, the film is directed by Phil Robinson & Dave Marshall and written by Chris Fink and Richard Tulloch. The film features new players, including Laura Erlich, Harry Joseph, Gary Martin, Matt K. Miller, Digory Oaks, and Westin Peace.

Plot
Crysta took care of three baby animals and showed greater control over nature. He and Pips started a small contest about who could grow more impressive plants, while Pips expressed a desire to see more of the outside world.
Suddenly, Batty Koda arrives in a panic, warning that the human hunter is right behind him. These hunters appear with their dogs and catch three baby animals. The first rescue effort while still at Ferngully failed, and resulted in large forest fires, destroying much of the Kangaroo's forest and scar. Pips and the Beetle Boys volunteered to follow the humans into town and rescue the babies, convincing the reluctant Batty to be their guide. They arrived at the city's theme park. They are so fascinated by the rides, they are reminded by Batty to continue their mission.
During this time the fairies had healed the rainforest and Crysta found and helped one of the hunting dogs (he called him Boof) abandoned and caught in a trap. He took him on his way to town. Pips and the Beetle Boys met a girl named Budgie who had difficulty practicing for a clown show. Pips flies towards her and introduces herself and her friends. He gave them shelter in his trailer. Batty had found a hunter's place but the others ignored it too fascinated by modern human utilities. Bark and Batty go to make rescue efforts, but Batty is caught.
Budgie told Pips that she had been doing her clown for years, but she had never been that good. Pips tells him that he's trying too hard, and he has to do it. Back to where the babies are, the animals are very scared and afraid they will never come home. Batty overcame her fear of the situation and managed to convince them. Then the hunters took all the cages and loaded them into the big truck. At just moments, Budgie goes to the contest booth and wins the kangaroo doll, which reminds Pips of the baby she is supposed to keep. He tells Budgie about them and he offers to help her.
They all reached the old warehouse. The hunters went, and Budgie jumped off the ledge and landed on the truck. They passed Budgie's grandfather, and he saw Budgie hanging over a truck tarpaulin, and he chased after them. Budgie made it into the car and freed all the birds in the cage. The hunters see Budgie trying to get into the car and angry to see all the birds flying away. One of them climbed out of the truck and tried to release Budgie. He managed to get away from him, but he took off the car he was using and sent him rolling back on the road. He ended up with one side of the car hanging on the cliff. When he falls, Batty catches him and manages to lift him himself to the top of the cliff (even though he's doubled in size) allowing Budgie's grandfather to catch them in his net and carry them safely to firm ground.
The group then heads by a clown car to the ship where the animals are being loaded. Pips ruined the conveyor for the catch to land on Budgie's grandfather's car. The fight for the cage takes place between the hunter and Budgie. Boof and Crysta arrived to help. Another dog turned against his former master. The boat escaped and the fairies used their magic to stop him from growing a giant tree. Nugget almost drowned when he ran away. Budgie and her grandfather adopted Slasher and Boof while all animals and elves come home.

Production
The film is produced by WildBrain and animated by Wang Film Productions in Tapei, Taiwan. All pre-production work, including character designs, layouts, storyboards, timings, backgrounds and color locks takes place at the WildBrain facility in San Francisco, while its Los Angeles facility works on post-production, which includes editing, musical composition, casting sound, sound recording and mixing.
