The Urban Art Academy Knights is a 14-university athletic team representing the Academy of Art University, located in San Francisco, California, at the NCAA Second Division of inter-college sports. The Urban Knights competes as members of the Western Pacific Conference.

Histori
The university's department of athletics was founded in 2006 by employing Jamie Williams as Director of Athletic. In July 2009, the Art Academy began a three-year transition process to become a member of the NCAA. At that time, they joined the Western Pacific Conference in the Second Division. The process was successfully completed with the Urban Knights awarded full membership rights by the NCAA in July 2012.

Famous athlete
A number of athletes and staff of the Academy of Art have participated in professional sports and in the Olympics. They include: Brandon Poulson - playing 2 seasons after being signed by Minnesota Twins in 2010 o Mobolade Ajomale - Olympic Olympic 2016 Olympic medalist in 4x100m relay o Lindsey Yamasaki - first women's basketball coach at a 2-season play school in WNBA o Jamie Williams - Director Athletic's first school played 12 seasons as a tight end in the NFL
