Luc ThÃÆ' à © riault (born January 31, 1960) is a Canadian academic and politician. As a member of the Parti QuÃÆ'à © bÃÆ'à à © cois, he served as Member of the National Assembly of Quebec from 2003 to 2007, representing the Masson electoral districts. By 2015, he was elected to the Canadian House of Commons representing Montcalm, as a member of the Quà © à © bÃÆ'à © cois block. He has served as Chairman of the Cois House Block from 2015 to 2017, and is a party representative in the Electoral Reform Special Committee.
ThÃÆ' à © riault, along with six other Bloc lawmakers, resigned from the Block caucus to sit as an independent MP on 28 February 2018 on the grounds of conflict with Martine Ouellet's leadership style.

Life and career
ThÃÆ'à © riault was born in Montreal. He attended Università © du QuÃÆ'à © bec ÃÆ' MontrÃÆ'à © al, earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy in 1984 and a Master in political philosophy in 1988. He later acquired DESS in bioethics at Università © de Montrà © al in 2002.
After earning his master's degree, he taught philosophy at Coll̮'̬ge de Maisonneuve from 1985 to 2003. He also trained water polo from 1979 to 1988.
He served as a member of the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital and Jeanne-Le Berne Ethics Committee from 2000 to 2003. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Maisonneuve Cooperative School (CoopÃÆ'à © rative Scolaire Maisonneuve) from 2001 to 2003.
He was the bureau chief for Parti QuÃÆ'à © bÃÆ'à © cois in Ville-Marie, Montreal from 1999 to 2003. He was elected in the Quebec elections, 2003, replacing Gilles LabbÃÆ'à ©. He was defeated in the general election of Quebec, 2007 by Ginette Grandmont.
